The Young Professionals Committee (YPC) was established to garner support for the Maurer Foundation by spreading our life-saving message of breast health education and breast cancer prevention to up-and-coming professionals and the community of Long Island.
These inspiring young professionals seek to raise funds and awareness in support of the Foundation’s mission and programming by hosting events for their peers, and in turn, aspire to cultivate a network of the next generation of Long Island community leaders. The YPC events offer opportunities to support breast health education while encouraging volunteerism and fostering business and philanthropic connections with peers.
The committee was formed in late 2015, with their first event—Cocktails for a Cause—debuting with great success in February 2016. Interested in attending future YPC events? Vice President, Santander Bank
Cristian is a Vice President at Santander Bank working in their commercial and corporate banking group. His focus is to develop and maintain relationships with mid-sized to large companies. Cristian is active in a number of local networking organizations including Hydra Collective, LIE, RMA YPG, and others. He has worked with other charitable organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Island Harvest, but is currently dedicated to helping the Maurer Foundation develop its visibility amongst young professionals.
Attorney, Russo & Tambasco
Paul earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, magna cum laude, from Montclair State University and a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University. He is also an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army where he was selected for the Army’s World Class Athlete Program’s Greco-Roman Wrestling Team. He was the national champion in multiple divisions and earned a bronze medal at the 2004 US Greco-Roman Wrestling Olympic Team Trials. He currently practices law at Russo & Tambasco in Melville, NY.

Rebecca K. Devlin, Esq. has been an attorney with the law firm of Lewis Johs Avallone Aviles, LLP since 2006. She concentrates her practice representing clients in all facets of casualty defense litigation, including construction accidents, premises liability, products liability, municipal liability and vehicular negligence. She is also a member of the firm’s Trust and Estates Department, handling basic and sophisticated estate planning as well as estate litigation and administration matters. She was named to Super Lawyers as a ‘Rising Star” for 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016. She received a Preeminent AV® peer review rating of 5.0 out of 5 from Martindale-Hubbell. She was also selected as one of the Top Women in Law for 2016, as chosen by Hofstra Law’s Centers for Children, Families and the Law. She resides in Suffolk County with her husband and children.
Audit Staff Accountant, AVZ
Kira Kowalchik is an Audit Staff Accountant at Albrecht, Viggiano, Zureck & Co., and has been with AVZ since 2014. While working as an intern and para professional at AVZ, she earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting from Long Island University, and graduated in 2015. Kira has helped raise funds and awareness for multiple organizations such as the National Kidney Foundation and Loving Orphans Global, and now is dedicated to helping the Maurer Foundation’s cause. Kira has also joined the Maurer Foundation’s Golf Classic Committee for their 21st Annual Golf Classic Event.
Salon Manager, Flemington Furs
Alexa has overseen the managerial component of Flemington Furs in Huntington Station, NY for the past two years. She focuses specifically on sales, service and client’s needs to drive a unique business. She is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. Being an active member of the Long Island business community is a passion that she strives to continue in her career. Alexa is also an active member of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce and volunteers for the Smithtown Children’s Foundation.
Vice President of Sales, A&C Management
Jason Ruvin has worked in the insurance industry for the past five years. He joined A&C Management in the capacity of VP of sales. Jason specializes in life insurance, disability income, and long-term care/health insurance. His philosophy focuses on putting the client first. He is a graduate of the University at Buffalo and currently lives in Jericho, NY. Jason also currently volunteers at The Michael Magro Foundation and American Diabetes Association.
