Girl Scouts troops located in New Hyde Park recently invited staff from the Maurer Foundation to participate in an evening program geared to promote health and wellness for their scouts and mothers. The Maurer Foundation presented their “Pinky Swear” program, which is a specially designed presentation for girl scouts which emphasizes how lifestyle choices made early in life can impact breast health. After the presentation, the girls participated in a yoga class and capped the night off with a selection of healthy snacks. A mother who had undergone a lumpectomy, shared that she was surprised to learn information during our program that she hadn’t while undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
