    Clinical Breast Exam

A Clinical Breast Examination (CBE) allows a health care practitioner to exam ones breasts for any abnormalities.
A doctor or nurse should perform a CBE at least once a year for normal risk individuals in their twenties.

    TIPS

    1. Your health care provider should examine you in two positions: sitting up and lying down. This is important because the breasts look and feel entirely different in each position.
    2. Women in their forties should schedule their CBE and mammogram 6 months apart. This will ensure that the woman is being examined by a health care professional twice each year, in addition to performing monthly BSE.
    3. If you have a personal or family history of breast cancer your physician may recommend beginning CBEs in your teen years.
