Libby’s knowledge of health care and development make her a unique leader in the field of philanthropy. She has held senior leadership positions with organizations such as the March of Dimes, St. Marys Foundation for Children, St. Marys Hospital for Children and Baylor University Medical Center Foundation.
At the Maurer Foundation, Libby truly enjoys seeing the mission fulfilled by expanding the organization’s outreach through building meaningful long-term relationships and partnerships with those who care about breast health. When not being one with the pavement, Libby is currently training for a 100 mile bike ride to Montauk, Long Island.
Donna M. Pacheco

She is extremely proud of the work the Maurer Foundation is doing and strongly believes in the mission to save lives through early detection. In her free time she enjoys going to the movies, eating out and spending time with my family and friends.
Ashley Garcia
Program and Administrative Assistant
Ashley was introduced to The Maurer Foundation as a member of their Junior Committee. With a background in marketing and corporate event planning she hopes to have a positive impact on fundraising. As a native Long Islander, she enjoys working at the Maurer Foundation to help educate men and women in her local community. For enjoyment Ashley likes to travel, bake, spend time with her sweet two year old daughter and plan local outings and activities with friends and family.
Development Staff:
Kathy Lough
Director of Development
Diagnosed in 2004 at age 34 with early stage breast cancer after her second son was born, Kathy knew this would change her life without question. As a development professional and volunteer for close to twenty years with many nonprofits, she feels extremely fortunate to work with The Maurer Foundation which teaches individuals how to take control of their breast health before it’s too late. A favorite quote “The task ahead is never greater than the power behind.” Busy keeping up with her two young sons and husband keep her life full of activity on a typical day!
Morgan Evans
Manager of Communications & Brand Development
With a background in the fashion and entertainment industries; Morgan booked models and celebrities for national advertising campaigns, consulted brands on creating their image and casted many projects from New York Fashion Week runway shows to magazine covers. At the age of 26, she recognized that breast cancer affects everyone in the most eye opening manner when her doctor discovered a lump. With no family history and very healthy lifestyle, Morgan knew the best thing she could do was educate herself and others by working at The Maurer Foundation. In her free time Morgan enjoys hot yoga, cooking, spending time with her boyfriend in their East Village neighborhood, keeping up with the fashion world and attempting to eat at all of Manhattan’s great restaurants.
Program Staff:
Safiya K. Campbell, MS, CMS
Program Manager
A staunch advocate of preventive health and wellness, Safiya brings her passion of educating communities to The Maurer Foundation. Her experiences as an adjunct professor for both Stony Brook University and Hofstra University has allowed her to hone her ability to instruct individuals to take charge of their overall well being. Raised in a vegan household by a father who’s an herbalist and a mother who’s a registered nurse, Safiya appreciates the combination of both traditional and modern medicine. In her spare time Safiya loves baking vegan treats for her 4 children.
Helen Galarza
Program Educator
Before joining The Maurer Foundation, Helen graduated from Queens College where she majored in Media Studies and minored in Women’s Studies. A seasoned public speaker, Helen came to The Maurer Foundation in 2007 with the hope of helping all people recognize the importance of becoming their own health advocates as well as allaying their fears about breast cancer. During her off time Helen likes running, playing drums, writing, taking pictures and discovering new music at various New York City venues.
Susan Simon
Program Educator
What drew Susan to the Maurer Foundation was her mother, who is a 13-year breast cancer survivor. Susan uses her background in public speaking and advertising to educate people of all ages about early detection of breast cancer, and because of her mother, this is a very personal issue for her. Before joining the Maurer Foundation, Susan worked in advertising at Foote, Cone and Belding and was a public speaker and educator for Wood Tobe Coburn College in Manhattan, NY. When she’s not educating, she loves to Samba and Jazz dance, and travel with her husband.
