For nearly a decade, the Long Island Women’s Inter-Club Tennis League has gone beyond the courts to make a difference in the lives of people across Long Island. Since 2017, the League has raised over $54,000 to support The Maurer Foundation’s breast health education programs, ensuring that life-saving information reaches those who need it most.
Much of this remarkable support stems from the vision and dedication of Elona Weiner, former President of the Long Island Women’s Inter-Club Tennis League.
Reflecting on the League’s commitment, Elona shared, “We’ve stood by this cause for many years because we know the Foundation’s work saves lives. If even one person learns how to check themselves and recognize the warning signs of breast cancer, then every bit of support is worth it.”
At their End-of-Season Tennis Gala, the League welcomed Susan Samaroo, Executive Director, and Katie Vernal, Events Manager of The Maurer Foundation to celebrate another successful season and to accept the League’s generous contribution.
The Maurer Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to Elona Weiner, current President Virginia (Gigi) Banks, and all the members of the Long Island Women’s Inter-Club Tennis League for their ongoing generosity and commitment to saving lives through education.
