At The Maurer Foundation, we believe education is one of the most powerful tools for promoting lifelong health and encouraging early detection. Recently, Greenport High School health teachers Maddy Tabor and Nicolas Fioretti, pictured above, invited us into their health classes to present our Bilingual Breast Health Program. Students learned about the importance of breast health awareness, prevention, and early detection in both English and Spanish.
Our bilingual programs are designed to make critical health information accessible to all families while empowering students with practical knowledge they can carry with them for years to come and share with loved ones at home.
Reflecting on the impact of the program, health teacher Maddy Tabor shared:
“Having your presentation in our health classes has been extremely valuable for our students. Your presenters make students feel comfortable asking questions and help students learn about preventative health in a meaningful way. We especially appreciate that all materials are provided in Spanish as well, allowing students to share important information with family members who may not speak English.”
We are especially grateful for the continued partnership and support from the educators at Greenport High School, who have welcomed The Maurer Foundation into their classrooms for the past five years.
