Eastern Suffolk Boces Raises Money for The Maurer Foundation

Happy New Year everyone!  I wanted to share a great story from one of the events we attended in support of some amazing students who raised money for The Maurer Foundation’s cause.  Eastern Suffolk BOCES recently had a Student Council Induction Ceremony at Patchogue Medford High School.  Judge Patricia K. Romeo resided over the event.  My associate Beatriz Narbon and I were very happy to see so much support from teachers, family and friends for these students.  Members of the student council raised over $700 for The Maurer Foundation by participating in our Pink Cookie sale fundraiser.  Beatriz and I handed out Certificates of Appreciation to each student that helped raise money for our mission of breast health education.

Pat Rizzi, a Special Education Teacher and Student Council Advisor for Eastern Suffolk BOCES said, “The motto of the Student Council is “Making a Better Tomorrow Today.”  Students implement this motto by doing community service projects throughout the year like fundraising, reading to elementary school students or volunteering at adult day care facilities on Long Island.  We celebrate these students and say a big thank you to the student council of Eastern Suffolk BOCES!
