Maurer Foundation’s First Annual Motorcycle Ride

What better way to enjoy Long Island’s North Fork than riding out in support of a good cause? The Maurer Foundation for Breast Health Education is proud to introduce its first ever motorcycle ride fundraiser. The event, which took place on June 14, 2014 in Oceanside, NY, was introduced in an effort to reach a new audience in our local area and was a huge success!

Having seen only negative press about motorcycle riders in the recent past, it’s exciting to see a group of benevolent bikers come together to raise funds for breast cancer awareness.

The Oceanside/Island Park Herald was there to cover the story as riders kicked off the day with breakfast and received their commemorative t-shirts before heading out east for some great food with good friends.

The event was generously sponsored by Nystrom Construction of Island Park. Owner Mike Nystrom also participated in the ride saying, “So many of our families have been touched by breast cancer. I’m happy to play a part in helping to further the mission of such a great organization. I look forward to participating again next year.”

It was a family affair for the foundation’s executive director, Susan Samaroo, whose husband and sons also ride. “It was a lot of fun to enjoy this beautiful day with close friends and to introduce everyone to The Foundation. Raising money toward providing our free breast health programs was a bonus!”
