The Maurer Foundation Promotes Breast Health Message With Unique Traveling Pink Bus

(Mineola, NY-October, 2008) “They said one pink bus couldn’t change a city. They were wrong”, is The Maurer Foundation for Breast Health Education’s message on the side of The Pink Bus which travels throughout the tri-state area starting next week. The bus will promote the “Size Matters” campaign which began in October.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing awareness of breast cancer issues. The Maurer Foundation’s Pink Bus is designed to reinforce the message that early detection equals survival.

The Maurer Foundation strongly believes that breast cancer awareness should be acknowledged every day of the year, not just during the month of October. In an effort to build continuous awareness, The Pink Bus will travel through many northeast communities with influential quarterly ads promoting the importance of early detection.

Breast cancer is a disease that has touched nearly everyone, either directly or indirectly. “”Size Matters” is a message of action which encourages the early detection of breast lumps by doing self breast exams. The earlier a breast lump is detected will significantly increase the chance of survival. The Pink Bus is meant to generate conversation among friends and neighbors.  By discussing experiences and concerns within their community, individuals will have an opportunity to better educate each other about breast cancer.

“”As The Pink Bus travels throughout the tri-state, The Maurer Foundation is confident it will signify many things; a tribute to a loved one, a way to celebrate survivors and most notably, to remind us all of the importance of monthly breast self-exams; we should always be our own strongest health advocate” states Niki Gregory Chairman of The Maurer Foundations Board of Directors.

“We are very proud to support the Maurer Foundation. Their work is so crucial to women’s health and we’re grateful for the opportunity to help raise awareness and visibility for the Foundation.” said Brenda Borwege, Vice President of Marketing for ABC Companies.  ABC and Paradise Trailways together have donated the use of the motor coach; travel services and the bus wrap to get The Maurer Foundation started in this year-long campaign.

The effective “Size Matters” campaign will continue to endorse its powerful message with numerous outlets and media projects throughout 2009.
