Susan came to The Maurer Foundation with over 20 years of nonprofit experience. She began her career at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island and has become an accomplished leader, excelling in all aspects of the industry. For the past 5 years she has been leading a team of professionals dedicated to saving lives through breast health education. Her strategic approaches to program development, community outreach, ability to cultivate relationships, and business savvy have propelled The Maurer Foundation to a higher level growth.
Susan is an active member in the community. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Oceanside School District, the Board of Directors for the Francis J. Logan Foundation and is a former board member for Sperry Federal Credit Union. She graduated from New York University in 1990 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and resides in Oceanside, NY with her husband and two sons. In her spare time she enjoys jet skiing, bike riding, zip lining, and walking on the beach.
Breast Health Educator
Lauren is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College where she earned a Master’s degree in Women’s History. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Marist College. Lauren brings her passion for women’s social justice to the Maurer team. In her free time Lauren enjoys volunteering as a Girl Scout Leader, baking, collecting children’s books, and spending time with her family.
Debbie joined the Maurer Foundation after a 20 year career working as an independent consultant providing fundraising, event planning and membership management services to not-profits, primarily in the health care arena. She views working at the foundation as an excellent opportunity to combine her education in nutritional sciences and health care administration with the work she has been doing more recently as an event planner and working with volunteers. In her spare time she enjoys calligraphy and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
Eileen comes to us with over 13 years of experience in nonprofit settings. The mission of the organization to save lives through education is what drew her to the Foundation. Eileen has designed and implemented training programs for health and human service providers as well as the general public. She has also created and conducted programs that encourage students to make healthy lifestyle choices and avoid harmful behaviors. In her free time, Eileen enjoys taking Spin classes, reading and spending time outdoors with her family.
Bilingual Breast Health Educator
Trinidad is a graduate of SUNY Old Westbury where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Society. She’s one of 3 sisters and a mentor to a young girl. She aspires to be an advocate for Women’s Health and does her best to lead a health focused life. In her spare time she enjoys trying new foods, traveling, reading and attempting the practice of yoga.
Julie is a graduate of St. Joseph’s College; she holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Adolescent Education. Julie spent several years teaching in school districts on Long Island. She brings her passion for teaching and curriculum development to the Foundation. In her free time, Julie enjoys walking her dogs, doing crafts with her Cricut, and reading.
Bilingual Breast Health Educator
Sofia is a graduate from Stony Brook University’s Masters Program in Public Health. Prior to attending graduate school, she completed a Bachelor of Arts at Hofstra University with dual majors in Biology and Psychology. These academic opportunities instilled in her the importance of having diverse and culturally competent health care professionals that aim to make a difference. She continues to embrace her culture and diversity as a Latina when advocating for the health of those in her community through her research and volunteer efforts. In her free time Sofia enjoys volunteering at the Sunrise on Wheels program, watching movies with her dog, and walking on the Long Beach boardwalk with her family.
