It is with profound melancholy we announce the passing of long-time beloved Board Member Jon Santemma on September 25th. Brother-in-law to our founder Dr. Virginia Maurer, Jon served on our Board of Directors for over twenty years, guiding our organization with his affable leadership skills, enthusiasm, and deep sense of concern for his fellow man.
“He will surely be missed,” said Maurer Foundation Executive Director Susan Samaroo. “He was one of those people that just made you smile—old school charm, sincere, kind, just a true gentleman. He made me feel welcomed at the foundation the very first time I met him.”
Jon was an active member of the Long Island community and in addition to The Maurer Foundation, over the years, loyally served at the Nassau County Bar Fund, Nassau County Bar Association, St. Dominic’s Church in Oyster Bay, the Fordham Law Alumni Association and the Dante Foundation. His loss will be keenly felt by our community and all those at The Maurer Foundation.
